Production technology of plastic containers for medicine (Part 2)
common plastic materials for medical plastic bottles
1. Polyolefins
polyolefin plastic materials suitable for making medical plastic containers include polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), polyvinyl chloride (PVC), polystyrene (PS). Among them, polyethylene also includes: high density polyethylene (HDPE), medium density polyethylene (MDPE), low density polyethylene. Although the test range is downward compatible (LDPE) with the maximum experimental force as the upper limit, linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE); Polystyrene includes high impact polystyrene (gpps-hips)
2. Polyester
polyester plastic raw materials mainly include: polyethylene terephthalate (PET), polycarbonate (PC), polybutylene phthalate (pen)
see Table 1 for density properties of common plastic raw materials. It can be seen from table 1:
● HDPE and PP should be selected for the packaging of solid drugs. These two materials have excellent resistance to water vapor penetration and can effectively prevent the deterioration of drugs due to moisture absorption. However, HDPE and PP materials should be used with caution for drugs that are prone to oxidation and deterioration. HDPE and PP materials usually adopt one-step "injection blowing" process, which is a competition art competing with their own strength
● LDPE has extremely poor oxygen resistance, so it is not suitable to be used as raw material for pharmaceutical plastic bottles, nor can it be filled with drugs with a long storage period
● pet has excellent impermeability to water and oxygen, and its appearance is transparent. It is an ideal raw material for filling liquid drugs (it is necessary to add specific oil syrup and oral liquid). Generally, the "injection pull blow" process is adopted
